Stamp lovers, brace for a panda-mania of global proportions for the latest issue of stamps to mark the presence of Xing Xing and Liang Liang in Malaysia.

A hit among visitors at Zoo Negara, the two adorable pandas loaned from China to symbolise strong relations between Malaysia and China, will be featured on a special stamp collection.

This had been available for sale at post offices nationwide from yesterday.

Pos Malaysia covering group chief executive officer Azlan Shahrim said the collection, called the International Cooperative Project on Giant Panda Conservation, was aimed at promoting greater awareness on conservation works and on the importance of wildlife and biodiversity sustainability.

Azlan said the uniqueness of the issue this time was a mini sheet which was specially printed using a type of (paper) fibre with security features.

He believed that the special issue would be snapped up fast.

The stamp, which is a mini sheet, measuring 80mm x 90mm displays the male panda (Xing Xing) meaning peace and female panda (Liang Liang) which means pretty, is sold at RM8 each.

In addition, two ordinary stamps measuring 28mm and 45mm which are printed on green-yellow phosphorous stamp paper, displaying both pandas, could be obtained at 70 sen each.
