A new pair of giant pandas, Chen Xing and Xiao Yue, landed safely at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport on the evening of November 18, 2025. Chen Xing and Xiao Yue are set for a 10-year stay at Zoo Negara Malaysia, following the extension of the panda conservation agreement between Malaysia and China. In a statement, Malaysia’s Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability Ministry said the arrival of the pandas is a symbol of the friendship between the two countries.

Deputy Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability Minister Huang Tiong Sii said earlier that the collaboration continues to reflect the “strong bilateral ties and shared conservation goals” between both countries. The programme was extended under a new 10-year agreement signed on April 16 during Chinese President Xi Jinping’s state visit to Malaysia.

Chen Xing means "white peak" and Xiao Yue means "stary".
