The Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto shared the story of a newborn panda at Taman Safari Indonesia with Wang Huning, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), during a meeting at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on Thursday. A live broadcast on the Presidential Secretariat’s YouTube channel showed that the conversation began with a discussion about a vase displayed in one of the palace rooms. President Prabowo later presented a photo of a panda that had recently given birth.
Mother Hu Chun, who arrived in September 2017 in Indonesia with Cai Tao, gave birth to the cub on December 3, 2025. President Prabowo explained that the panda delivered a single cub and has remained close to care for it.
