Ran Ran will travel to Belgium

To remark the 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Belgium, CCRCGP announced that giant panda Ran Ran will move to Belgium.

A supplementary agreement on cooperation in giant panda conservation research was signed between CWCA (China Wildlife Conservation Association) and Pairi Daiza.

The female giant panda who was born on May 31, 2017 will travel to Belgium to continue the previous cooperative project.

At the end of 2025, Hao Hao, the previous female who lived in Belgium returned early due to health reasons.

In order to continue the friendly panda bond between China and Belgium, the two sides recently reached an agreement on the addition of an adult female giant panda to Belgium.

Under the supplementary agreement, China will provide Belgium with an artificially bred, healthy adult female giant panda to participate in the Sino-Belgian Giant Panda Conservation Cooperation Project launched in February 2014.

At present, relevant cooperative units are maintaining close communication, jointly implementing relevant arrangements for Ran Ran's upcoming journey to the Kingdom of Belgium.

October 25, 2026 marks the 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Belgium. The move of Ran Ran is an important step to deepen conservation cooperation between China and Belgium. Over the past 12 years both countries have achieved positive results in areas such as breeding and rearing of giant pandas, disease prevention and control, public education and scientific research, which have contributed to the friendship between the two peoples and the protection of global biodiversity.

China and Blegium will make solid efforts to ensure the welfare and health of giant pandas outside China, continue to enrich the scope of China-Belgium pragmatic cooperation and promote new results in the development of wildlife conservation in China and Belgium.
