Please be aware that due to Tian Tian the giant panda’s possible pregnancy the indoor show dens of the panda experience will be closed to visitors from Friday 1 August 2014. However, both panda’s outdoor viewing areas will remain fully open to visitors during this time. Although both pandas can choose to be off show if they wish, we will encourage Yang Guang outside with scatter feeds as often as we can. You may also see Tian Tian when she goes outside. We apologise for any inconvenience to our visitors, but our animal teams and veterinarians are working hard to respond to Tian Tian’s signals and create the best environment for her. Although she is content and comfortable, this is a critical time in her potential pregnancy and like last year she is showing sensitivity to noise. During this time we will be as flexible as possible, capacity dependent, in welcoming visitors back to the panda enclosure during another time slot on the day of their visit if they do not see a panda during their allocated slot. Until we know if Tian Tian is pregnant, we will not be issuing advance panda enclosure tickets for September 2014. If Tian Tian does give birth to a cub in late August or early September it is likely we would need to close the entire Panda enclosure for a number of weeks, and we do not want to disappoint visitors who may make special arrangements to travel and see the Panda’s. As soon as we are able to confirm more information we will release tickets. We again apologies for any inconvenience this may cause, however we believe this is the best way to minimise the impact on our visitors and the giant pandas.
