From September 19, 1988 until January 10, 1989 two giant pandas came to Adventure World on a short term loan.
A breeding pair, Yong Ming (Ei Mei) & Rong Bin (You Hin), arrived on September 6, 1994.
After the death of Rong Bin, a new female arrived from Chengdu on July 7, 2000. Mei Mei carried a surprise with her: on September 6, 2000 she gave birth to a daughter. Rau Hin is the only giant panda who was conceived in a different country than her country of birth.
Yong Ming turned out to be an excellent breeder and conceived 6 surviving offspring with Mei Mei (between 2001 and 2006) and 10 surviving offspring with Rau Hin (between 2008 and 2020). 11 of Yong Ming’s offspring returned to Chengdu between 2004 and 2017. He returned home on February 22, 2023 with his last twins Ou Hin & Tou Hin.
The 4 last giant pandas in Nanki-Shirahama returned to Chengdu on June 28, 2025.
