Xin Nier & Lu Lu mated in Ya'an

The China Giant Panda Protection and Research Center reports that giant pandas Xin Nier and Lu Lu successfully mated on the morning of March 17, 2013. She was first placed together with male Tong Tong, but their lack of breeding experience resulted in a failed attempt.
Female giant panda Xin Nier was born on September 28, 2007 to mother You You and father Wu Gang. This is her first year in the breeding program. Lu Lu, a natural breeder, has been active in Wolong’s breeding program since 2005.
