Red Pandas in Paris with David Algranti

As I was visiting Paris this weekend, it was a good time to meet Pambassador David Algranti again.

David lives in the capital of France and showed me the red pandas at the Jardin des Plantes, a small zoo in Paris. It was very nice to see ‘Pandavid’ Algranti again. We had a nice talk about our adventures in Chengdu.

The Jardin des Plantes is the only zoo in Paris at the moment. The bigger zoo, Zoo de Vincennes, closed its doors on November 30, 2008. It’s undergoing a complete renovation and will be reopened in some years… The Zoo de Vincennes was home to Happy, Yen Yen & Li Li, the only 3 giant pandas who have lived in France.

France has always had a special connection with the giant panda. It was the french missionary Armand David who introduced “the black and white bear from China” to the west in 1869…
